The built in audience is going to kill gaming. Rockstar could release a game called "Grand Theft Auto: Walmart Employee" and it'd sell. It would catch on like SARS, all the fan boys would buy copies and game critics would call it the most innovative game ever. And then there would be so many companies coping the formula and we'd all be drowned in the mediocrity.

I try to boycott game series that show little innovation or improvement. However, my forty to sixty dollars won't be missed if thousands buy that game.

Fallout 3 has won more "Game of the Year" awards than 4chan has produced internet memes. So why am I taking the piss? By all means the Game of the Year means good, right?

I don't think it does in this case. Fallout 3 could be likened to a "recycled Oblivion with a thin coat of paint" in many ways, too many to be Game of the Year, surely? No, it seems not. In fact, the two other runner-up games on most commercial sites (not a comprehensive list) were Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4, two games, while fun, hadn't been as innovative as their previous installments.

And then there were fun, innovative and even popular games that seemed to be ignored. Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, Battlefield: Bad Company, Deadspace, Far Cry 2 and hell, even NHL 09 was more innovative than Fallout 3! Just to name the releases in America.

Then I realized that Fallout 3, GTAIV and MGS4 spent a comparable amount of money on advertising as Obama did on his presidential campaign. So I pose a few questions to the users here, because we all like pretty unknown games obviously. :p
